This is by far the best seafood restaurant I've been to in a very long time. I promise you, you won't be disappointed!!

Lambert's is one of my favorite local seafood restaurants. I go on Thursday's when they have 1lb of steamed shrimp for 7.99 or fried for 12.99. And o LOVE their fried shrimp as well as hushpuppies.

Good shrimp basket with excellent prices. Hush puppies are great.

In my initial review, I had an OK experience that was impacted by a large party's presence. I've since been back (several times) and can say that Lambert's has found its way into my favorite restaurant list. In fact, I've made it my duty to put anyone I can onto this place. It's worth it! First - go on a Saturday. Preferably early to mid-afternoon. You can walk right in and get a table, without waiting on hordes of people. Also, (and more importantly) all their apps are half-price on Saturday! Woo hooo!! I tend to make a meal of the apps because they're that inexpensive and are good portion sizes. I've tried quiet a few things, but have definitely settled into my favorites. First, I love the sauteed mussels. They are plentiful and are made with onion slices and mushroom. They're are tender and flavorful - you really can't miss. The hush puppies are a requirement for me. They are served with butter, but you won't need it. I also enjoy the oysters on the half shell, which have always been fresh and delicious. Honestly, I usually make a meal of the apps, but I highly recommend the fried oyster dinner. Oh. Em. Gee. The crispy, light batter coupled with the robust seasoning of the oysters? Do yourself a favor and order it immediately. Admittedly, the service isn't 100%, but it's not bad either. This is definitely a hidden jewel, and it has a very casual, down-home feel to it. The waitresses are friendly, laid-back and I think they balance the customer load well. Every once in a while, they may get backlogged if there are a lot of people, but it's a rare occurrence. You can tell they're working at Lambert's because they want to be there and I appreciate that. As I've become a "regular," it's nice to know that they'll remember me.

I have been eating at Lamberts for 20+ years. The food was always good and dependably fresh. However, in the last few years, the food, the overall experience and the service has gone downhill. Our recent visit to the restaurant was yesterday. A simple order of 2 carry out sandwiches was botched. Thank goodness we checked the order before driving off. There was no fish in the box!! When we went back to have the order corrected, there was no apology, the server looked at the empty bread and asked what was wrong and then took the box to the back and the staff laughed hysterically. We can forgive an honest mistake but the owner needs to realize that they cannot rest on their old reputation. There are too many other dining choices in the area with more modern decor, faster more courteous servers and service.

I usually call my order in before coming to pick it up. I think I ate on the bar side once while watching the game and it was decent. Get their fried soft shell crab platter and I usually ask them to go light on the salt, because sometimes the batter can be kind of hypertensive oh and the hush puppies are bomb!

Well, I have to say that the food was great but the attitude of one of the the staff was severely lacking. We arrived on a Thursday evening with 10 people at about 7:45. The hostess/waitress did everything she possibly could to avoid seating us. She told us that it would be at least 45 minutes before a table could be ready and that it would take an additional 45 minutes to be served. Mind you, the restaurant was maybe a third full. We persisted and were seated in about 10 minutes. The hostess finally found one of the bartenders to work the dining room and serve us. She was excellent; both friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. Nearly all of had the Lambert's Lump. A half pound of lump crab with a light cream sauce and then broiled. It was excellent! We all thoroughly enjoyed the food. The atmosphere is definitely kinda "divey." I think that if I visit again, I'll try sitting in the bar.

Lamberts Lump Crab is my favorite. Huge chunks of fresh crab meat, light on the mayo, and a pure & simple delight.

The food is really great here. I come here frequently they are friendly and price is reasonable.

I'm giving this four stars because of it's down home, dive-y atmosphere and surprisingly good food. It won't end up in Conde Nast or get raves from foodies but if you're looking for a comfortable restaurant that serves good food in generous portions, this is it. The waitresses are friendly and personable and the service is great. It has a bar in the back where a lot of the good ol' boys and occasional good ol' girl hang out. This also means that you can get a drink with your meal. I've been here several times -- sometimes for seafood, sometimes for steak and I've never been disappointed. C'mon down for a friendly meal you don't have to get dressed up for.

Lambert's is the only local bar in our area. Thank goodness the food is great and pours are generous. This place has some of the best seafood around. They offer great selections, good prices and Saturday bar specials can't be beat. Whenever our relatives and friends come to town they head straight for lambert's and we meet them there. Being the only local bar, they have become popular and very busy. The kitchen works hard but still they can get backed up. It's worth the wait. The mussels come out steaming and just like those I've had in PEI, crab dip is excellent, steamed shrimp on Thursday's can be cooked how you like them, AYCE crabs are huge, Friday visits don't miss the cream of crab soup, BUT the best is the Lambert Lump. If you don't like this food, you ordered the wrong thing. The food can hold its own to the shore restaurants.

I have known Danny and Steve for over 25 years. They are great people. In every sense of the word. When they opened this restaurant I couldn't wait to give it a try. And they didn't disappoint. Very generous portions, great service, in a family kitchen/local hangout type of place. I now live in WV about 400 miles away, and when I am in town it is absolutely worth the trip. Speaking of which, I will be there next week. Hope to see you all there. Dave M

Decided to check this place out because Jerry's was closed and remembered hearing some good things about it. It reminds me of the bar that they'd hang out at on 'Roseanne' or maybe even Moe's. Lambert's is absolutely dated, so if you're not open to that sort of thing (dim lighting, wood everywhere, "old" smell), you might not want to go here. It was pretty empty on a Monday and the few patrons were obviously regulars as we were eventually referred to as "new people" later during the evening. Employees were friendly and it's a down-to-earth spot overall. We tried the crab cakes, steamed shrimp and crab dip. All were solid, if not overwhelming. I'm big on spice and Lambert's seems big on preserving the integrity of the crab, so the crab cake was all lump, but very light on any seasoning. The same goes for the spiced shrimp, but they get points because those suckers were large. The sides were all pretty good - hush puppies, onion rings, cole slaw - but none stood out . Beers are cheap here. Drafts run about $2.50-$3.00 and bottles were $3.50 and while I didn't order a mixed drink, they serve them in soda glasses so you get your money's worth. Some of the specials that are available on certain days seem like real steals: Thursday is 1 lb. of spiced shrimp for $6.99 and all-you-can-eat crabs (Friday?) for $24.99. All in all, it didn't wow me enough to drive out of my way to visit and I'm still partial to Jerry's, but Lambert's seems a pretty cool place to grab a beer & talk sh!t at.

Looking at all the great reviews, I expected better. I wasnt that impressed. It took about 15 mins for someone to greet me with a menu. The food was slow, and it was just ok. This is a place for regulars and locals, but if they want new blood in the place, a simple greeting goes a long way. I considered leaving, but the waitress finally came over. She was nice, but the food is also overpriced based on quality and quantity.

Long wait for carry out, and totally not worth the wait! Bland nit good crab cake. The only positive thing I can say is the tomato on my sandwich was fresh. Fries tasted like the oil wasn't fresh. Won't go again. Eva

Being as though yesterday (04/18) was Good Friday & the last day of the Lenten season I went to Lamberts for dinner....by all the great pictures/reviews I thought the experience would have been better but I got PLAYED! APP: I ordered a bowl of cream of crab soup...very salty & lacked the lump crab meat that I was used to from other seafood restaurants in the area. ENTREE: I ordered a crab cake sandwich...now please go back to the picture if the crab cake, this is not what was plated for me...I ordered it broiled & it was soggy and left much to be desired. Side note: sandwiches do come with fixings & cold slaw but all other sides are a la carte A LA CARTE: French fries were AMAZING...they were cooked perfectly! My parents ordered the crab cake with shrimp...the crab cake was the same but I asked to taste a shrimp which was steamed to perfection. I would have taken pics but of course my phone DIED and no charger Now I wouldn't say that I wouldn't go back...I'm just in no hurry. If/when I do return I wouldn't order a crab cake but I would order the steamed shrimp & french fries. The pictures are not reality so please do not be fooled but try it out for yourself

Ambiguous location for sure. A friend told me about this place, had the address and drove passed it three times and this was during the day. Once you enter you will not believe you were in Prince George's County. This place has a deep deep DEEP South hole in the wall feel. The staff was quite friendly and the food was surprisingly good. This is NOT a first date spot!! She will look at you like you had just bumped your head. This is more of a 20th date spot after you have proven yourself.. Lol I like a good hole in the wall and this absolutely fits that criteria!! If I could give this place 3.5 stars I would!!

The first time I went to Lamberts, I had just returned from picking up my nephew from his Army AIT at Aberdeen Proving Grounds. He was wearing his dress green uniform ( Class A's ). We weren't quite ready to head home and were hungry. I picked this little hole in the wall on our way home. It was our first time visiting. The owner Steve and Co-Owner Danny both came to tell my nephew that anything he ordered was on the house. We both ate and drank very, very well that night. True to their word, the owners of this long time locally owned establishment really rolled out the red carpet for my young on his way overseas nephew. Well, it's been about 5 years since my first visit. I go once or twice a week now. As much for the people and owners as for the food and drink. There are two sections to the restaurant ( all non-smoking of course ). The back of the restaurant is a small town style tavern where after a couple of visits, don't be surprised if you'll have a conversation with someone who will remember your name. Ok, all that soft and cozy stuff is fine, but what keeps you coming back is the food. All of it is good. For people local to the area, you get 'Jerry's Seafood' quality for a fair price. Seriously folks, order Oysters Lambert and the Lambert Lump. Order Spice shrimp ( splurge for the large, it's worth it and affordable ). Order the chicken cheese steak supreme. The catering menu is always on my holiday ordering list and supplies the front-end to my house parties. Go visit Lambert's. Yes, it's in a strip mall and a little out of the way unless you work at NASA or some job close to Bowie. Just don't be shy, walk in the back, grab a table or a seat at the bar and get ready for some locally owned and operated character. I would love to hear some yelper feedback. I've seriously got to the point where this is the only restaurant I'll order shrimp at. Oh...the drinks. Let's just say they are more than fair with the pour at Chea Lamber. If you are close enough let me give you two words. Breakfast menu. There is no reason to ever buy a fast food breakfast if you work or live near Lamberts. I love this place. If you try it you will too. Tell em Michael sent you. Michael B. on yelp.

I've been to many a seafood restaurants but I always seem to return to Lamberts! Here are a few of my favorites: the Lamberts lump, fried soft shell crab, the crabs have a different type of old bay seasoning that is delicious. I prefer my shrimp with a cornmeal batter, but the batter they use is tasty. The crab cake is delicious and the make the best hush puppies I've tasted so far. I could go on. Everyone is nice and friendly. The only thing I can fuss about is the at times slow service.

Was invited out to Lamberts for a friend's birthday party. Being from DC, this was a hike for drinks and bar food, but hey, I'm up for an adventure. The first thing I noticed, is that I really miss neighborhood joints like this living in DC. The place is definitely filled with locals from the area, so I felt a bit out of place...until Trinity saved the day with her great cocktails! Soon, the group that was throwing the bday party arrived, the DJ started, and the placed started jumping! I know the regulars are not used to this kind of party crowd, but they were real troopers, and served up a great spread of seafood, and great beverages. Don't leave without trying the oyster and crab shooter!

Excellent dinner. Price was not bad. I had the Lambert Lump crab. It was very good. Sides were good as well. I ate in the bar. Service was good as well. I really enjoyed myself. Not fine dining, but I wasn't looking for that.

Lamberts is one of those classic strip mall, hole in the wall, gems! The front half is sit down restaurant and the back half is neighborhood bar. The furnishings are dated, yes, but you just cant beat the Lambert's Lump! I promise you it is worth the price! The staff are all friendly and the owners will stop and chat. One of them (Steve or Danny) is always there. Trinity works the back bar and is always awesome! Now back to the LUMP! Lambert's Lump is 8-10oz of real genuine lump crab meat, with a mild sauce, and broiled. It comes with 2 sides and a roll. With the exception of one night when owner Steve helped my wife and I broaden our Lambert's palate by bringing out sample after sample of various menu items, the Lambert's Lump is the only entree we've ever had. And it has never let us down. The crab is always fresh, there is always just enough sauce, and it is always cooked to perfection. Oh, and the night of menu samplers from Steve, everything he brought out was awesome. Since we live in Columbia, and it is a bit of a drive to get to Lambert's we only get down there 4-5 times a year so we each always get the lump. fyi, they do open for breakfast. Owner Steve runs the breakfast shift, and they have limited Sunday hours. Aside from the Lump they have various seafood items on the menu including fish, shrimp, oysters, etc. they have a NY Strip and other sandwiches on the menu for the non-seafood folks. I recommend the LUMP! I'm throwing in my first 5 star review because the lump is awesome and DW and I love the staff! Edit: shoot, this is my 2nd 5 star review.

Lambert's is easy to miss. It's in a strip mall with outdated decor. The food however is delicious. It's Jerry's seafood without the price and unlike Jerry's, does not try to be an upscale seafood place in Lanham. (Not hating, I grew up in Lanham :) ) When my family hosts out-of-towners, we bring them here to appreciate real, Maryland seafood. This place uses the good stuff. Crab dip is a must. You will want to dip everything in it. I ordered the sauteed mussels as an appetizer. The price was $8 so I was imagining a small amount of mussels. The waitress brought out a heaping pile of mussels covered in Parmesan cheese and onion sitting in a pool of wine sauce. SO GOOD. I would've paid $15 for it and I was never a big bivalve-eater.. Apparently it's only $5 on Saturday in the bar. Just about anything is delicious on the menu. My boyfriend loves the cheese steak, and he lived in Philly for a year. I took him here for lunch and was completely surprised by the amount of food you get for the price. The steamed shrimp is perfect. Hands down, the best. When I dream of shrimp, I picture Lambert's. And as always, the serving size is generous. I think they have a special (either on Tuesday of Thursday).

So I have a group of friends who have been trying to get me to come to Lamberts with them 4ever and I finally met them there last Friday...and it was a pretty good experience. Its definitely a local, chill spot...nothing fancy about this place. Of course my main reason for going was the all-u-can-eat crabs...and at first I got frustrated because they weren't bring crabs out fast enough...but after I complained a bit, they started bringing the hot crabs out every few minutes. And for 29.99, you cant beat that. They have many different kinds of food specials all through the week (they have a $1 burger that's really good), so they have something for anybody's tastes. This is a spot I will frequent from time to time.

I was a blue crab virgin. My uncle and his wife live in Lanham and since I've never had blue crabs, they brought me here. It's a local place, not your fancy Perrier water and can't pronounce the dishes place. It's far from elegant but it's friendly and kick back. We ordered the shrimp, hush puppies and a dozen crab. I was taught how to eat these crabs. Lots of work but delicious. Don't come in your nice clothes because it gets messy. By the time I was done eating, I had Old Bay seasoning and bits of shell all over me. Gotta love it! I am no longer a blue crab virgin and proud of it!

I really enjoy the all you can eat hard shell crabs. I have also had their mussels and shrimps and have enjoyed both. The atmosphere is fine, nothing fancy, but clean and pleasant. Now for why I only gave them 3 stars. Their fried fish was not good at all. Which shocked me and disappointed me. I was expecting fresh fried fish, what I got instead was like a breaded Mrs. Paul's piece of fish. I will continue to go their for crabs and mussels, but need to find some place else for fried fish.

I grew up in Bowie and have been driving past this place for DECADES before I even noticed it. It's a bar next to a car wash that serves cheap beer and decent fried and steamed seafood. If you take it for what it is, you'll have a good time and get a fair deal pricewise. For medical reasons, my days of all-you-can-eat shrimp and crabs are over, but the fried oysters are solid: fresh, fried crispy. Same with the frenchfries. I sampled the broiled crabcake; while it's not Jerry's Crab Bomb, it's generous and won't break the bank. You can also do the AYCE crabs if that's how you roll. They have some non-seafood options like sandwiches, and kids menu too, but you really come here for seafood. Atmosphere is relaxed, laid back, all locals. If you're in a hurry, go someplace else. If you want to relax with a pile of seafood and a beer or a good stiff drink in front of you, come here. You could probably do better seafood in Annapolis, but then you'd have to drive to Annapolis. Totally unpretentious and beats the pants off any of the high-end slopshops downtown.

  • Susan N.

The only place I eat seafood. Excellent - mussels, Lambert's lump, crab dip, chicken tenders, chicken salad, hush puppies, onion rings, all you can eat crabs, nightly specials. I love this place. The bar is cheap for the DC area. Great food, cheap drinks, friendly staff!!!!

  • Key J.

My tummy hurts. I'm not saying it was the food. But I'm not saying it wasn't. That being said...it was good. I ordered the Alaskan snow crab legs dinner with cole slaw and a baked potato. Then I washed it all down with a Corona. 3 hours later I wanted to stick my finger down my throat for some sweet relief. Now it's the following morning and I'm chugging ginger ale at my desk. Since this is a neighborhood Cheers-y, down home kind of a spot, I might give it another chance. But then again I might not.

The food was awful. Either drowned in grease or left under the heat lamp too long. Also the place was not crowded but service was slow due to our waitress being more interested in talking with the kitchen staff.

This place was pretty entertaining. It's like stepping back in time to old-time Prince George's. Some of the clientele was a little rough around the edges, like the tough-looking old lady who flossed at the table and left her used dental floss on the center of the table...gross! We had a really nice waiter, but one of the nearby waitresses was pretty flustered and kept messing up orders. Listening to her grumble under her breath and the complaining diners made for good dinnertime entertainment. We were one of only maybe 5 tables dining in, but apparently there's a big bar in the back, and we were later told that there's only two deep fryers, so be prepared to wait. It took 30 minutes to get appetizers and over an hour for entrees, but our waiter was very apologetic. Food was pretty good - maybe not as good as Jerry's down the road, but good and a fraction of the price. The cream of crab soup was delicious. I had a fried platter that was massive. Some of the scallops were over-battered and still doughy, but the shrimp and crab cake were really good. Crab cake was surprisingly good if not a tad salty. Overall not bad but certainly not the best ever. 2 apps, 2 huge fried platters, and 2 cokes came to like $48 or so which is a great deal.

Ummmm, so this is an update on my previous review of Lambert. Apparently your experience here depends on who's waiting on you. If you're over at the dine-in side Mary is a true gem but she hasn't been there the last few times I've visited. I'm not sure where she is or if she even still works here but this restaurant is suffering without her. The past few times I've been here the service has been lackluster and the food isn't even the same. Wherever Mary went, the owners need to see about bringing her back. She's the glue that keeps this place together and without her this restaurant sucks.

  • Alyssa M.

We waited for OVER AN HOUR! 45 minutes into the wait... we were told that they ran out of soft shell crab... so we decided on crab cakes. We had crab cakes and fried shrimp. ALL of it was HORRIBLE! NO FLAVOR! The lady taking the orders at the front was very nice! She told us what was good and what wasn't. I asked if the clams were fresh ... she was honest and said that they were frozen. Although he opinion on the other food being good was not accurate... she was very nice. I will not be back. I am so mad that I wasted over an hour waiting for this food. And also wasted calories and time consuming the food.... well, half of it because the other half went right into the trash! Yuck. When you have a seafood restaurant in Maryland... you better stay competitive because there are way too many places to choose from.

Great food & great people! The hush puppies, fish & scallops were outstanding. It has an 80's decor with that era of music playing. It was an unexpected very cool experience!

We finally tried Lamberts today. We arrived around 2pm on a Saturday and were seated quickly. The seafood was good, and I will return to try other things on the menu. I got the crab balls as an appetizer. They came out steaming hot, fresh out of the broiler. My husband got the jalapeno poppers; they were fine, but a little over-fried. For the main meal, I got the steamed shrimp and my husband got the broiled bacon-wrapped scallops. We really enjoyed the crab balls, shrimp, and bacon-wrapped scallops. We each got fries and the salad bar as our sides. The salad bar is limited (typical salad items, cole slaw, potato salad), but sufficient, so I will get it again. Pros: - Seafood is delicious - Server was friendly. She brought the wrong beer on accident, so let us keep it on the house and then brought us the one that we actually ordered - Food preparation was quick, food was served piping hot - Great specials, including discounted appetizers on Saturdays, 3/4 pound of steamed shrimp for $7.99 on Thursdays, half price margaritas on Fridays, Happy hour from 3-6, 10 oz steak for $10 on Wednesdays. Cons: - My only gripe is that the menu prices on the website don't match the menu in the restaurant; they're all a little lower online than what's on the menu in the restaurant. For example, on the online menu, the scallops wrapped in bacon are listed as 10.99, but they were actually 14.99 on the menu in the restaurant. Tips: This is a seafood restaurant, so stick with seafood. The french fries were definitely the frozen and deep-fried kind, I suspect that the jalapeno poppers are, too. The salad bar was fine, but you're not there for salad.

we were 2nd guessing lamberts based on appearance but don't let the looks fool you! this is a great, friendly place with not so much atmosphere but terrific food. fried crabcake, hush puppies, and broiled seafood combo platter were excellent! we went in right before closing with a party of 9 and had nothing but friendly service and great food!
